Introduction to Rally Session Begins: 8:15 PM - August 4, 2010
Woofman's Pet Resort is located just over the Illinois/Wisconsin border. Description: This class is geared towards readying the exhibitor for AKC Rally competition, which has taken the nation by storm. Rally is considered to be a stepping stone towards the world of obedience or agility, designed specifically with the traditional pet owner in mind. A sense of teamwork between the dog and handler is essential to success in Rally. A rally course consists of 10 to 20 stations, depending on the level. Dogs and handlers are not scored as rigorous as they are in traditional obedience. Communication between handler and dog is greatly encouraged and perfect heel position is not required. AKC states: "The main objective of rally is to produce dogs that have been trained to behave in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs, in a manner that will reflect positively on the sport of rally at all times and under all conditions." - http://www.akc.org/events/rally/getting_started.cfm
